Will Howard Exceeds Expectations

Steelers quarterbacks coach Tom Arth had high praise for quarterback Will Howard today. Arth said Howard is looking very sharp during OTAs as training camp quickly approaches. For Steelers fans, that is exactly the kind of update you want to hear heading into a season that could mark the final chapter of Aaron Rodgers’ career while also beginning to prepare Howard as a potential future option.

The addition of Drew Allar this offseason may have helped spark the response we are seeing from Howard. As competition intensifies in camp and throughout the season, Howard will have to prove that he remains the best option to eventually take over after Rodgers departs. There is also no question that Mason Rudolph remains in the conversation, but if Howard continues to take meaningful steps forward through training camp, it may be enough for Mike McCarthy to value the younger option over the veteran.
